Assistant Director of Admission
The Bay School of San Francisco seeks an energetic, articulate, well-organized and highly personable assistant director of admission to join our motivated and enthusiastic admission team in early August 2010. The assistant director of admission will support and assist in all aspects of the school’s ambitious admission effort.
Job Description
This full-time position involves a wide spectrum of admission-related duties that include: making presentations to introduce the Bay School at Bay Area middle schools and high school admission fairs, assisting in preparation and organization of weekend and evening open house events for prospective students and families, managing the internal admission process through meeting with prospective students and parents, organizing the student visit program, interviewing applicants, and evaluating candidates as a member of the admission committee.
Qualifications
The assistant director of admission position requires:
- Significant experience working with middle or school-age young people. We strongly prefer prior experience working in admissions and a familiarity with independent schools.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Comfort with public speaking.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple complex tasks.
- Cultural competency/sensitivity; the ability to connect with a wide spectrum of applicants and parents.
- Excellent interpersonal skills as a teammate and colleague.

Skills and Abilities
The position requires:
- The ability to work a flexible schedule, including some weekends and evenings.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and common database applications.
- A valid and clear California driver’s license and the ability to drive to school visits and functions away from campus.
Major Responsibilities:
The assistant director will:
- Report to the director of admission, head of school, and associate head of school.
- Share responsibility for traveling to middle schools and school fairs to describe the Bay School to groups of prospective students, parents and high school placement counselors at middle schools.
- Share responsibility for organizing open house events on campus attended by large groups of prospective students and parents.
- Organize and train the group of Bay School students who serve as hosts during applicant visits to campus.
- Interview applicants, and facilitate the participation of members of the faculty and staff who also serve as admission interviewers.
- Read admission applicant files, contact references and middle school counselors as needed..
- Collaborate with the tuition assistance department to assist in prioritizing admission candidates.
- Organize the re-visit week after letters of acceptance have been mailed.
- Serve as an academic advisor to a group of Bay School students.

College Counseling Associate
The Bay School of San Francisco is seeking a personable, well-organized college counseling associate to support the operational functions of the College Counseling Office and students and families during the college search process.
Job Description:

The college counseling associate is the key person who keeps the College Counseling Office functions running smoothly, and is an integral team member of the college counseling staff. The job responsibilities are largely administrative in nature; however the position also involves a high level of interaction with students and parents; providing guidance and advice on the college search/application process. This position also provides opportunities to engage with highly collegial members of the faculty and staff in the broader school community.
Major Duties Include but are not limited to:

Registrar-Assistant to the Deans

The registrar/assistant to the deans position is at the heart of the school's operations and offers the opportunity to work directly with our 280 students and all members of the faculty and staff as well as parents. The job responsibilities are varied and involve approximately equal amounts of scheduling, database management and organizational duties that include personal interaction and guidance.
Major duties include:
- Staff reception desk at main entrance
- Record daily attendance, create attendance reports
- Coordinate substitute teachers and tutors
- Manage central student records, issue grade reports and transcripts
- Serve as internal website administrator
- Assist academic dean with creation of student class schedules
- Assist dean of faculty with teacher scheduling
- Work with IT director to distribute grade reports electronically
- Maintain emergency records
